Trip 2- Had Bajji, Andhra Bandi Dosa. Both were good and yummy. Accompanying chutneys were in right proportion, home made taste and thank god NOT COLD!
Amrutha Vilas is that one perfect spot for South Indian breakfast. Their menu is impressive offering a variety of delicious options. Service was very good. My personal favorite choice here is Bonda, they are soo crispy, perfect shape and size. The texture and flavor is simply irresistible. We have also tried different dosa options they have along with idly, vada, punugulu and Poori Poori was not upto the standards. However if you're a fan of South Indian breakfast and want to have a YUMMY breakfast then Amrutha Vilas is definitely worth the visit
Authentic south indian food. Everything we ordered tasted great. you order and pay at the counter before picking a table, the food was served super fast. would definitly recommend this place if you are in Sanramon.
I'm glad I gave Amrutha Vilas a try. It's quite different from the usual Indian food I've had around the Bay. I am by no means a regular when it comes to Indian food, so this is all new to me. But what caught by eye on Yelp was the Dosas here. Amrutha Vilas seems to be a really popular place too because this restaurant was popping when we got there. This place was a quick service type of restaurant. You place your order at the counter, they give you a table number if you're dining in, and bring you your order when it's ready. Otherwise, all other things, such as water and utensils, are self-service. We took a while with the menu because we had absolutely no idea what anything was, but we ended up asking for recommendations at the counter and Chitti Punugulu was recommended to us as new customers to the restaurant. Originally, I was interested in the Stuffed Mirchi, but we were told it would be very spicy. I'm glad they mentioned this because I'm not sure I would be able to tolerate spice I'm not use to. Aside from that, we of, course, got the Onion Rava Dosa (the most popular item on Yelp), and a 2 Idly, 1 Vada, Pongal Combo. We were told the Dosa would probably take 15-20 mins to make. Although this seemed like a fast-paced, quick-meal style of restaurant, service was friendly. Some of the employees came to check on us throughout our dining experience. I asked about the chutneys that were given to us, and we were told that of the three chutneys, one was ginger, one was peanut, and the other was tomato based. All of them were really flavorful. Our food probably took around 10-15 mins to come out. The Chitti Punugulu came out first, and these are like little donut nuggets. Fried, but not that oily. Kind of light and has a nice, soft chew to it. You get a lot of these donut nuggets on one plate too. I like how bite-size they are. They were fun to eat, haha. Next and my favorite was the Onion Rava Dosa. I don't think I've ever tried Dosa before, but they're similar to crepe, but savory. Very thin, crispy, light, and flavorful. Paired really well with the lentil sambar. Finally, the 2 Idly, 1 Vada, Pongal - of the three, my favorite was the Vada. It's shaped like a donut, but slightly denser in texture. Fried, but it wasn't too oily. The Pongal was interesting. I would probably describe it as a thick porridge consistency, but it's made with potatoes. There's some peanuts and other ingredients sprinkled in the mix. Lastly, the Idly - this was plain, but dipped with the chutney, it soaks up a lot of flavor. All in all, we enjoyed our experience here. I'm not that familiar with Indian cuisine, but I can say that of the few experiences I've had of Indian food, this would be one of the top. I would recommend this to people who are looking for a different, more unique sort of experience with Indian cuisine. It's pretty carb-heavy, but I didn't feel like it was overly filling, which is great. Would I come back? Yes!
We were craving authentic Andhra food tonight and decided to have dinner here. Upon entering, you choose a table if you're dining in, use the table number to place and pay for your order, and the food is then served to you and you are expected to clean up after yourself. The lady at the counter seemed disinterested and somewhat condescending. Despite this, the food was served promptly. We ordered Andhra Bandi Dosa, Ghee Idly, Mysore Bonda, Punugulu, Ghee Karam Masala Dosa, and Thali. The food was truly authentic, fresh, and flavorful, with excellent chutneys, sambar, and accompaniments. Tea is available for free if you enjoy tea with your meal. Overall, it was a good dining experience, and I would highly recommend this place for its authenticity, fresh food & reasonable prices.
This was some of the best Indian food I've had in a while. Every single thing I ate was delicious. We tried the thalli and it came with so many options and all of the vegetable dishes were excellent. The dosas and wadas were perfect. I also purchased some of their snacks to take home and again it was excellent. There was a parking lot with plenty of parking. There was a small indoor seating and some outdoor seating as well.
I had seen this restaurant before but hadn't guessed that it would be this good. Was wanting to try a new place for a quick Indian veg snack. The masala vada on the menu attracted me to this place, and we ended up having our entire dinner here. Bombay jini dosa was one of their specialty dosas and it was a fusion of chat ingredients glazed on a crispy dosa like sev, raw onions cilantro, imli chutney. Different, interesting and surprisingly delightful. Next time I'd probably ask them to avoid adding imli chutney as I don't prefer sweetness in dosa. Masala vada was nostalgic as I haven't had it in years. Sambar dipped vada was good, but not the best sambar I've had. The chutneys were tasty - peanut, capsicum (I think), ginger. All were great.
AUTHENTIC vijayvada food. You're missing out! The mini ghee idli is so delicious and soft. Sambar is the best. Rava masala dosa is a also a must try. Also, the punugulu is a yummy treat for the kiddos. Service is quick and efficient. Lots of seating inside and out. Free chai and clean bathroom
